Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.
Pre-1700 Quiz (self-certifying in order to understand better how to de pre-1700 genealogical work on WikiTree) [Thanks for already completing this test!]
As far as the spelling of the LNAB (LastNameAtBaptism) goes - we use the standard that every single profile gets the exact spelling of that person's name as can be read on the earliest record, which in most cases is the baptism image ... all of the other names (first, middle, nick and surnames) are placed elsewhere in the profile (appropriate filds and / or bio).
Hi Warwick, welcome to WikiTree (though I see that you have been a member since June 2017). I [pre-merge] edited the bio of one of the duplicate profiles you have created for you: Teron-1. Before you venture further into the earlier 18th & 19th centuries - be aware that many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of that period (and earlier) have already been made.
Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? We are working on help pages for everyone can learn more about WikiTree and how everything works around here.
This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. We want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.
You've probably been hard at work adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You should have at least a few profiles that you manage now.
There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.
Please let me know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page.
You've been here for three weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.
You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.
As always, your questions are welcome!
It's time for your next stop on your guided tour. This week, we'd like to introduce you to our community and show you some ways to get more involved and stay up to date on everything that's going on: How to Join in the Community.
As always, your questions are welcome!
Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy
PS Good work so far! Have you noticed on your ancestor profiles on the bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!

It looks like https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:South_African_Roots would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Your South African Roots tag will help you get updates about activity for that project.
Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)
