Biography

Born to wonderful parents in the summer of 1958. My sister was already crawling around when I was born. But we were very close in age. Then came the boys... the wild indians as my grandma Juel called them.

Research

Henry Whitmore.. still a mystery who his parents were. They are not referenced anywhere except in a letter from his sister Harriet. Even then we don't know the maiden name of his mom or any of her heritage. We do not know the fathers name. Is his daughters mother in law Catherine Williams Henry's sister...The three children were taken from their mother and their father moved them to Ohio. Catherine was born in New York... there are also some references although nothing definitive in Harriet's letter dated 1844.  ????

Hi Debbie

I am trying to find the father of Craven Owens b. 1802 in Tennessee died in Iowa in 1889, but seems to have live in Virginia much of his life. He is my 3rd GGF. Any help or hints would be appreciated. He was married twice, first to Meaoroh Gillenwaters , the to a woman name Fleenor maiden name Fickle..

Thanks David Owens

I would try Reuben Owens?or Owen? He shows on the 1840 census in Washington county, Virginia. He is showing that he is about 20 years older than Craven. I will post the 1840 census on the Craven Owens Page for your review. if you look under Alexander Owens who also may be related.. it shows Rueben. There are several younger people and children living in the home so he might have children that moved back home. You can start there and look to see if there is information on biographies in the area. familysearch.org pulled several Reuben Owens in Washington, Virginia.

I hope this helps. I cannot find a name for his father anywhere on the documents with his name. Good luck.

Hi Debbie. I’ve been working on my Henry County IN ancestor Catherine Thompson Gough George. The copies I have of a list of Catherine’s siblings do not completely match the lists here on wikitree or some other genealogy sites. We need a source for the siblings’ names. Is there a chance Henry Co IN has a copy of her father, David Thompson’s will? Do you have time to be a detective with me?

I will look but as of today I haven't been able to locate a will.

I am a direct descendent of Andrew Andes -3x Grandfather of my father, Bernard Andes Hess (1900-1999). My father said that, I think about Andrew Andes, that he and his brother Peter immigrated from Bavaria, which means that my Andrew Andes is likely not the son of Wilhelm Andes. Any comments?

I find once you get back in time records are sketchy. And the rule of thumb is that you always try and prove the story wrong. We had a long standing story that my 3x great grandfather mother died when he was young. His daughter even had a newspaper article printed saying as much. They moved from New York to Ohio. Then a distant relative recently found a letter dated 1844..it was from an unknown sister (to the family) of our 3x ggf. The letter written to my 3xggf said when your father left our mother... the truth came out. She actually died years after they had left. If you willing to do the research and try to prove it wrong then you may discover the truth. We were just lucky that the letter had been preserved and that this distant cousin found it. I don't know much past my grandparents. I have found out through discovery, pictures, wills, deeds, birth records, descendants and letters need to verify the story... You are the detective in your families history. I think anyone that has the documentation to prove it different should... we are all looking for the truth and there are mistakes made along the way. If I were you I would follow the story and see what you can find out.
