I was born on January 30, 1988 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA at the University of New Mexico Hospital to Canadian parents. I was born very premature and remained in hospital for over a week before I could be flown back to Manitoba! My middle name is after my great-aunt Leeanne Sanchez who supported my parents through the ordeal.
Once back in Canada I spent three months in hospital at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg before I could finally join my parents on their farm west of Darlingford. The addition of a brother, Alexander, on March 18, 1990 completed our family.
I attended both the University of Winnipeg and Red River College before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a second major in History. The Creative Communications program at RRC helped me to get a job at the Portage Daily Graphic in Portage la Prairie where I chased news from May 2011 until July of 2013.
I most recently completed my Bachelor of Education at Brandon University and am now employed as a teacher.
I enjoys reading, history, yoga, crafting, decluttering, and of course family tree! I have been chasing my roots since the age of 12 when I got research, photographs, and much encouragement from my great-aunt Eileen Laing and great-grandma Eileen Law.
I came out as non-binary in October of 2023 and now use the preferred name Finnias (Finn for short) and they/them pronouns.

James Mack (my 3rd GGF) married twice. His first wife was Mary Jane Wood, she was born on 13 May 1833 in Ernestown, Lennox and Addington, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Jacob Wood and Rebecca Simkins. She died in 1861 in Hastings County, Ontario. James and Mary Jane had six children, Samuel, Alva Albert (Alvey), Daniel, William Henry, Lewis, and Sarah. After her death, he married Mary Anne Wood born 15 Jul 1832 in Ireland. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann Wood also of Ireland. No relation to the first Wood. They had three children, John Thomas, Eliza Ann, and James Alexander. She died on 5 June 1912 in Northumberland County, Ontario. The obvious confusion is that both wives had the same first and last names. I confirmed this info with my Aunt who had this written down by my grandmother Beatrice Hamilton. Alva Albert (Alvey) is my 2nd GGF, his nickname was passed down to my grandfather John George Alvy, and to my father Alvy James Howard (Alan).

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?
This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.
Thanks for the correction. I assume Speldhurst and a few other places either changed county or the administrative centre changed county, once or more, during the eighteenth century. Do you have a date/dates? I think I have more family to add.

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around.

I’d like to remain a part of the project but don’t know what I’d like to do. I putter around in many different areas of the country working on my tree and when I work on others I’m a jack of all trades I guess. Come fall I will be back and school I won’t have much WT time. Suggestions? Maybe just a general England project member?

On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as a Team Member for GEDcoms. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.

Thanks for choosing to remain in the Ireland Project.
The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details. The Teams are :-

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.
Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please dont assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.
