Biography

John Holdham was born in England.

John Hector Holdham, son of Henry Holdham and Isabella Susanna Jones, was born 3 March 1900 in Hendon, Middlesex. ^[1] The tenth of fourteen children, John was baptised in Aldenham, Hertfordshire on the 13 May. ^[2] The son of a cart maker, John grew up in Wealdstone, first at 1 Marlborough Road, Victoria Terrace and then later at 2 Milton Road. He went to school in Weleadstone. ^{[3] [4]}

Towards the end of World War I, John served in the 27th Battalion of the Training Service Regiment based in Harrow, Middlesex. ^[5] The following year John moved to the 1st Battalion of the 53rd Training Reserve Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment, again based in Harrow, Middlesex. ^[6]

By 1939, at the outbreak of World War II, John was living with his widowed mother and three siblings at 2 Marlborough Hill in Harrow. He was working as a transport driver. ^[7]

John married late in life, in the latter part of 1951, in Ealing, London. His bride was Irene M Pitkin. The couple did not have any children. ^[8]

John died on 26 October 1983, aged 83, in Eastbourne, East Sussex. ^[9] He was living at 12 Garnet Drive at the time of his death. In his probate carried out in Brighton on 16 March 1984 he left effects of £78,569.
