I grew up on the southside of Richmond, Virginia.. My parents separated when I was 4. My Mom and I lived in a few apartments and in 1962 moved in with my Grand Father Arthur Joseph Hall. He died about 6 months after we moved in. I had a fun childhood. We had a cliff, railroad tracks and the James River across the street. At 18 I left for college in Greenville, North Carolina. ( East Carolina University) I gave it a try but I wasn't ready. I got a job and went to a community college and got an associates degree in Communication Arts and Photography.
I bought a house (kind of a farm, 14 acres.) in 1981. I worked as a sign technician for ten years.I worked for a friend in remodeling for a few years. Next step I worked as a framer in new construction. In 1994 I got my contractors license. I built 100+ homes and additions. In 2004 I was Builder Of The Year in our local Home Builders Association. High honor for me, I was the only female builder in Greenville. I was also the first to build a "Green" home in Pitt Co, NC The home was certified by Energy Star and The Green Builders Institute.
I really enjoyed building homes and I was at the top of my profession but my shoulders gave me a fit. After the third shoulder operation (not my last) I was told to get rid of my tools and toolbox. That was the toughest day in my life. The Physical Therapist said it just like I wrote.
I spend my time now in my shop making things. I started researching my family and enjoyed it so much I joined Ancestry.com in 2015 and researched for hours. I have a lot of Virginia roots on my mothers and fathers side and north east ( New Jersey, New York, Maryland) on my fathers side.
I joined Wiki Tree in 2019 but I put it down. I stared back again in 2000 when Covid-19 took over the country and have been busy ever since

Should Team Virginia re-name itself to the Musketeers? (they had 4 at one point, yes? Bill Vincent must be at work)
Thank you for joining Team Virginia!

Thank you for merging the two profiles of Samuel Christy Gibbs. I am too new to figure out exactly how to do it. Rhitt Garrett wasn't really interested when I contacted him.
Looks like we are related from way back when. Wow.
Thanks again, Elizabeth (Libby) Phillips
Anne, thanks for your contributions to the project.
I sent you a time sensitive private message over the weekend. I hope it got to you safely. I'll try again.
Thanks, Betsy Ko

It's nice to be able to access the sources directly.
We are 15th cousins, I looked because I have Massey ancestors, but the match-up is through another line.

Thanks so much.

As Wikitree requested I checked it out and looks good. Something I've been meaning to do was add a bit more to profile and cleanup a bit. Since I now know a bit more about my 5th great-gf, because of research for Jamestown Society application, I felt like I needed to add or clarify info. Again thanks so much. Linda Alcott Maples
Have a lovely weekend, Your 16th cousin 1x removed Maurya
I am a real doubting thomas because I fell prey to the fraudulent connections to the Royals when I was first putting our family history together 15 years ago. so happy I found WikiTree! I am not a trained genealogist, just fascinated with were i come from. Thank you, Margaret Finch Locke (great great granddaughter of Lavina L Humphrey)

G'day cuz! (No, I'm not Australian, I just like "g'day"). Just wanted to personally thank you for completing the merge of Mary and Marry and the post-merge cleamup. As for "cuz", well, we are. When I saw Hall in your profile, I had to run the relationship check because there are Halls way back in my ancestors. That's not the connection, but a 17th g grandmother of yours is a 16th great grandmother of mine. Thanks, again, for completing the merge!
