Hi JoAnne,

I noticed the new profile you created for Pierre Voyer using Fichier Origine as the source. There is a sample citation for that database in this G2G thread. It's really important to include more than just a link because, inevitably, they break.

I learned recently that If new evidence contradicts a prior identification and a migrant's parents become unknown, they just remove the migrant's file. With that in mind, I recommend that you include an abstract of the data in case they ever take the record down.

I hope this helps,

Debi

Hi Debi, Thanks for the information. I had thought that Fichier Origine was a highly reliable source until I wanted to find more info on Pierre Voyer (the father of Pierre). After learni that Pierre de Voyer the Viscount of Argenson, Governor of New France was in Quebec in 1658 I figured there was a mixup. Can I just go ahead a delete the new profile? I'm not sure if it makes things worse or not.
Hi JoAnne,

Members of the Quebec Project consider Fichier Origine to be a reliable source for their Project. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that the curators of that site sometimes take records down. It's still there, so they currently consider it is a valid record.

Go ahead and add as much information about the Pierre from 1610 as you can find.

Hi JoAnne,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
