I'm currently researching my deep maternal French Canadian ancestry in the Detroit River region, trying to learn what I can about their lives in the Windsor/River Canard area, early Detroit, and going back to 17th c St. Lawrence River/Montreal/Quebec. In particular I am especially interested in marriage documents and Catholic dispensations for consanguinity, and how that reflects in my tree. I'm also using WikiTree data to help build an art project to visualize the many levels of 2nd and 3rd French Canadian Catholic cousin-marriage through maps and paper sculpture. As an artist and not so much an academic, I'm doing my best to learn how to accurately use sources and naming conventions.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with AK or other carriers of their ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with AK:

Hi Anna,

I noticed that you connected Rose Arsenault (abt.1768-1813) to Alexandre Arsenault as her daughter, but no mother was added. On her profile, there are detailed notes about her possible parents that hadn't been found yet. It would be very useful if you could provide a source that links her to Alexandre, and also identifies her mother. Thanks!

Hi Gisele,

Thank you for noting that! I think I got ahead of myself - I will remove the relationship for now and do more research.

Hi Anna,

The comment you recently posted on Jacques Maugras was very important in providing his exact death date which had been too vague. When Wikitree notified me of the comment I almost missed it when I looked through Bio. I added a note in his Bio with your comment. Hope you don't mind.

Thank you, Richard!! That is really great, I don't mind at all. I was excited to find the info and share it!

Hi Anna,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi Anna,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page. Natalie ~ Pre-1700 Greeter
