Note: He was captain of the militia at Fort Joachim at Ste. Genevieve in 1759.
He is son of Luc Deguire and Marguerite Ménard, and was born around 1698, Guillaume Deguire, who is known son of these parents, was born in May 1699. Both boys are cited in an act of 13 April 1713 for the naming of tutors for the children of Marguerite Ménard, who had died in March of that year. (standard practice to name tutors to preserve inheritance of children) André cited as 14 years old, Guillaume as 13.[1] He would have been born in either the Contrecoeur/Saint-Ours area, or Repentigny. Not in Québec city, which this family never lived in.[2]
Note: les registres de Contrecoeur, qui desservait la région, sont perdus en grande partie pour la période. Records for Contrecoeur, which served as parish for the area, are lost in large part for the era, due to a fire in 1699.[3]

The marriage records of Andre Deguire dit LaRose and Elisabeth Brunet at Kaskaskia listed the parents of Andre as Joseph Deguire and Marguerite Menard of Repentigny Diocese of Quebec. The genealogists Tanguay and Jette both state that Marie Marguerite Menard was married to Luc Deguire from 1698 (estimated) to his death in 5 April 1700. The first record of a Joseph Deguire in Canada was in 1704. Marguerite Menard and the Deguire family were from Repentigny and the adopted surname of LaRose indicates André to be from the same family.
Excerpt from "Pioneers of Old Ste. Genevieve": "According to local tradition, the Deguire dit LaRose family was the first family of Ste.Genevieve, [Missouri] and included Jean Baptiste DeGuire dit LaRose, his son Andre and family. They were the first to cross the Mississippi and build a home and other buildings on its west bank. By 1729 they had sold these improvements and built a new home. Many reports have been made to trace the family back to its beginning in Canada, however, no birth record of Andre can be found in Canada and it is believed that he was born on the journey down from Canada.
Andre married on 11 June 1729, at Kaskaskia to Elizabeth Brunet Bourbonnois, the daughter of Jean Baptiste Brunet and Elisabeth Deshayes. They were already living on the west bank but had to go to Kaskaskia for marriages and baptisms as there was no resident priest in what was called St. Joachim of the Ste. Genevieve District.
Andre and Elisabeth had six children before her death about 1750.
On 26 February 1759 Andre married Marie LaBossier, the widow of Joseph Baron.[4] At that time Andre was head of the Militia of Ste. Genevieve, a position Joseph Baron had held prior to his death.
Andre's brother, Jean Baptiste, a tailor at Kaskaskia, had married Marie Jeanne (an Indian girl). They had one daughter, Marie Josette, who married three times. First to Louis Tirard dit St. Jean; second to Pierre Verroux; and finally to Francois Bernier.
Andre Deguire LaRose, son of the first Andre, married Marguerite Govreau, daughter of Etienne Govreau and Marie Millet on 24 August 1756. They had 18 children.
Jean Baptiste Deguire, son of the first Andre, married on 5 February 1770 - Cecile Baron, daughter of Joseph [Baron] and Marie LaBossier. Children: Susanne, born 1762; Jean Baptiste, born 9 December 1765; and Ursula, born 23 Sep 1767.
Pierre Deguire, son of the first Andre, married 22 August 1774 - Marie Louise Tessier Placet (2 children).
Marie Rose Deguire, daughter of the first Andre, married at Kaskaskia, Joseph Chouquette (2 children).
This was the beginning of Ste.Genevieve's first family that was to spread out over the district. Those who moved west to the lead belt kept the name Deguire. Those who remained in the Ste. Genevieve area kept the name LaRose. The family can be traced back eleven generations in Ste. Genevieve from the 1720s to the present time."
