DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Douglas or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Douglas:

Hi Douglas,

There are several Randall lines that go back a long way in North America and they are well documented. You may find that you are in one of these if you take a Y-dna test (different from autosomal) that will trace your paternal ancestry back at least 5 generations. There are several services that do this. I used the y-37 test at familytreedna.com and expanded and verified my Randall line. I highly recommend it - we may be related. Robert Randall

My grandfather came to America from Jamaica to escape the WWI draft. His father was an English missionary. Like Harrison or Henderson, or Sharpe, the name evolved several different times. There may be no relation. If you can trace your ancestry back to Nuneaton in Warwickshire we are probably related. Thanks though.

Hi Douglas

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. It normally takes 24 hours from adding a test, or adding a new ancestor, or ancestor’s descendant, for WikiTree to display your name and test results on your ancestors and their descendants’ profiles for potential cousins to compare results with.

Have fun! Mindy ~ WikiTree Volunteer Greeter

PS There is a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

Welcome

I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Also, consider signing the Honor Code ; this will provide you with more ways to contribute.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person.

I hope you enjoy the site.
