Biography

Matteo Tesoriero was born at Lipari, Provincia di Messina, Kingdom of Sicily, about 1560, of unknown parentage; and died at Lipari, after 13 April 1613.^[1] He married, at Lipari, about 1593, Gervina Roscio, who was born at Lipari about 1575, of unknown parentage; and died at Lipari, after 13 April 1613.^[2]

In the 1610 Census of Lipari, Matteo Thesorero, aged about 60, was enumerated with his wife (Gilmina, 40) and four children (Minerva, 15; Joan Domenico, 8; Joanella, 4; and Grigori, two months). His taxable property included one building valued at onze 50, two parcels of land valued at onze 180, one female mule valued at onze 18, one male mule valued at onze 9, ½ ox valued at onze 4.15, and two donkeys valued at onze 9. His debts (income stamped at onze 2 per year, income from perpetual leaseholding valued at tarì 7 per year) totaled onze 27. His debts without specific security totaled onze 9.^[3]
