As a Scot from Fife with ancestors in the North East of Scotland, I'm puzzled by the birthplace of Malcolm I MacAlpin (MacAlpin-21).

He's described as being born at Moray, Fordoun, Kincardine, Scotland. I can't trace a place called Moray in the parish of Fordoun in Kincardineshire.

Elgin, in the _county_ of Moray is some 88 miles from Fordoun, according to Google Maps, and the use of the term "men of Moray" in describing his killers in many texts suggests he wasn't born in Moray. Do you have a reference for this?

Regards,

Michael Hendry (new recruit to WikiTree)

PS He died in Fetteresso, not Fetteresson

Hi Steve

I'm looking forward to working with you on those profiles!

Karen ~ WikiTree Mentor

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you recently created profiles for some pre-1700 persons. There have recently been some updates to the Pre-1700 Profile help page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles and the Pre-1700 Quiz https://www.wikitree.com/quiz/pre_1700 . Please review both and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You will notice that the wording has been modified to more fully explain the sourcing required when creating pre-1700 profiles. We're looking for reliable sources to add to the various lists. Please let us know if you find sources which would be good additions.
