Hi Rick,

Thanks for the update on the Dresser/Potter marriage. When you add sources please don't remove the required <references /> tag. It's needed to display any inline sources. See: Help: Biographies - Required: Biography and Sources

Hi Rick,

When changing dates on profiles, such as the death date for Mayflower Project profile Elizabeth (Howland) Dickinson, please supply a reliable source for the change at the same time. That date has not been proven, and using a Findagrave memorial without a gravestone image isn't a valid source, *if* that's what your source was. Please collaborate when making substantive changes on profiles you don't manage.

Cheers,
Bobbie

Hi Rick, I am going to reiterate Bobbie's comment. I've reverted your recent change to the birth date of Mary Warren. If you have a reliable source for the birth date change please let us know and it can be added to the profile.

Thank you. Anne B, Mayflower Project Co-leader

Good Morning Bobbie ,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention , I use Find A Grave , mainly to inspect the info , on the Tombstone , in the this case though , I used The following : Web : Netherlands , Genealogies Online Tree Index , 1000 - 2015 Geneanet Community Tree Index Mary Warren & Robert Bartlett Placard Normally , if you notice , I Use What info that there is Available, in some cases, especially in Early New England , it's very sparse, but then again , I thank you for bringing this to my attention , I appreciate it very much.... Rick

Thank you for your response, Rick. Geneanet Community Trees, and any online trees, are not considered reliable sources for pre-1700 profiles. One needs to dig down, find and cite the original sources. The changes made to the above-mentioned profiles had no source information provided at the time of the changes, which is the other issue. Please review all the information in:

For Mayflower Project profiles, specifically, there is a list of Reliable Sources here.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi Rick,

When you're entering New England dates prior to 4 July 1776, please don't include "United States" in the name of the location. Thanks! Kay Wilson

Hello, Rick, I believe we are possibly related through your Colomy line. I am a descendant of Patience Colomy b about 1800 also from New Durham, NH. She was a daughter of either Richard or John Colomy. I am inclined to go with Richard as his wife was also named Patience. I think your Daniel Colomy could be another brother. Still looking for proof. I also think their name may have originally been McCollum.

Hi Rick,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

HI Mary,

I ' m very curious how to add sources , I have some sources , from Ancestry I would like to use , what's the best way to do this...Rick

I try not to use ancestry.com, as the links are inaccesslible for other users of WikiTree unless they have an Ancestry.com account.

I am including a couple of links from WikiTree's Help section

This shows you where to place the sources (at the the page after the Biography. Please observe the sources have a =Sources= header with the references tag below the Sources header

Thank you for your interest.

Hello Rick, You are now a member of the WikiTree Community - We are building One Collaborative Tree, with just one profile per person, so it is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.

"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from."

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Please, be sure to include a list of the sources used, on each profile you add.

If you need any help getting started check out the Help Index or the G2G forum - Good luck growing your branches, Patt
