  • First-hand information. Entered by Ian McDonell at registration.

Am seeking information on McDonell family in northern Victoria [Nathalia?] Australia.

Ronald was born in 1885 to Ronald Sen. and Margaret Brown of Glasgow. he had two brothers William and Huntley. Parents married in 1880 at Sandhurst [Ballaret now?].

I cannot decipher the poor handwriting on Grandfather's Victorian birth certificate.

Great grandfather Ronald was born in Scotland at an illegible village, which is the key to further research.Think the year was 1832 [circa].

I have found a Ronald of about the right age in 1841 Census at Inverie , Knoydart. This fits family rumour but is not proof.

I cannot locate record of a voyage by "Omeo" in 1861,1862 to Victoria to check if this person was the emigrant.
