Biography

Born January 7, 1925, Osage County, Oklahoma To Earl Gay and Ione Jenkinson Gay. Married to Jane ten Broeck(born 23 April 1923, Beijing, China, U.S. consular records) in Bar Harbor, Maine, November 21, 1957. Parents of Jane T Gay were Carl tenBroeck, and Janet Rinaker). Children Thomas Earl Gay (of Lewes Delaware) and Susan Carlene Gay McIsaac (Mt. Desert Island, Maine). After graduation from high school (Jackson, Miss) attended UC (Berkeley) one semester before being inducted into the Army in 1943. In the army, an instructor at Laboratory Technician school at Ft. Benjamin Harrison (Indianapolis, IN) then served in Europe, Phillipines and Japan in a General Hospital (229th) before being discharged in 1946. BS in Chemistry at Indiana U, 1948, PhD, Chemistry, UC(Berkeley) 1951. Two years at California Spray Chemicals (Ortho) then in Film Dept, P;astics Dept and Fibers for E.I.duPont until 1991. Instructor at UD Lifelong Learning Institute in Wilmington for over twenty years, starting in 1995. Moved to Kendal at Longwood in 1998 where he helped run the wood shop/Fixit shop.
