Hello John and greetings from Tauranga,New Zealand.

I couldn't help but notice that your Janet Boyd nee Gaw was b.abt 1819 in Maybole,Ayrshire,Scotland ( daughter of William Gaw and Elizabeth Gaw nee Watt ). Co-incidentally my great great grand father Sam Gaw was also born about 1814 in Maybole,Scotland, married in 1846 to a Margaret Hood,( born about 1827 in Tarbolton,Scotland-the daughter of William Hood and Jane Ingram.) My greats emigrated to New Zealand about 1857. Do you think that your Jane and my Sam may have been siblings if not then possibly closely related to each other? If you feel there could be a connection here would love to hear from you and if possible compare notes and family tree details etc. With both having been born in the same place I feel sure that there could well be a family connection here. Kind regards Jack Richardson

Hi John!

I just popped by to let you know about our Australian projects - we have a lot of Aussie genealogists here, hard at work trying to make a complete genealogical picture. Definitely check them out. Maybe one of your brick walls will start to crack.

Welcome to our community, John. Normally at this time a fellow Australian would greet you, but you get stuck with an American greeter tonight. It's 1:04 A.M. where I live.

The more ancestors you add, the more likely cousins will find you and help break down some of those brick walls.

Our G2G forum has a social gathering spot, the Tree House. Please consider stopping by to introduce yourself.

VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

Thank you for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only ONE profile per person.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!

My name is John Ewart and I live in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I have been researching the family trees of myself and my wife since early 2012 and would very much like to break down some of the "brick walls" in my research.

Welcome John!

As a guest, you can search for your ancestors and participate in G2G, where you can ask questions that you didn't find an answer to in WikiTree Help (see the "Help" drop-down menu at upper right–for additional links that may be of use, please click my name and check out the links I list under my "Greeter" section–especially the Sources links and the link to my fellow greeter Debby, who also has helpful information on her profile page).

If you would like to join WikiTree, and help with our mission of one tree, please read the Honor Code, volunteer, and post a comment on your profile page; we'll be glad to add you to the WikiTree community.

Happy Hunting!
