I started doing genealogy about twenty years ago after entering my dear mothers information. She did genealogy the old fashioned way, traveling to courthouses, cemeteries and libraries. A lot of information on the different genealogy sites on her family is her work. I had no Idea that I had so many ancestors in the American Revolution and Civil war. I am still trying to get through roadblocks in my tree. I also am trying to educate my self in the proper use of wikitree. It's hard to teach old dogs new tricks.

Happy Hunting, Bob Tilley

Hello Bob, you were kind enough to provide information on my grandfather, James Albert Tilley. I found veteran papers and discovered his death date and location. I'd be glad to provide it, or update the profile, if I'm able. http://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.redirect?app=pffww&id=269312&lang=eng

Hey Bob, appears you joined my uncle with a man named Tom Elswick in marriage. As my uncle was from Iowa and this man was from Kentucky, I do not believe this to be an accurate addition.

Hi Bob - thanks for your reply! My Great-grandfather arrived in Utah from Burton Overy, Leicestershire in 1879. His wife, Ellen Hill, had arrived in Utah from Burton Overy in 1869!

As you would have seen in the Tilley Facebook Group - to date there are no links between my Leicestershire Tilleys and the Tilleys in Virginia/the Carolinas/East Coast!

Hi Bob! Thanks so much for joining the South Central Appalachia Team. I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions or suggestions, post them to the team page or send me a private message. My strength is cheerleading, organization, and templates (notice "sources" is lacking - working so long with burned counties, I've not had a lot of experience with quantities of intact records!) - one thing I was thinking of doing was ask each team member to pick a county (or two) to focus on. Does that sound like a good idea to you?

Cheers, Liz

P.S. Hope you don't mind, but this post just became my "go-by" for welcoming new team members :D

This is the Category

Hi Bob, I keep checking things out on this amazing site. Today I learned we have 463 common ancestors within 30 generations. Thanks for all the work you do.
Hi Bob,

It looks like https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tilly-446 and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tilly-259 both baptized in 1608 in Holy Trinity are duplicate profiles. If so, the profile for the fathers are likely duplicates also.

You have created both profiles and manage all four profiles. Please review and merge the profiles if appropriate.

Hello Megan, thanks for interest in

the Tilley name study on Wikitree. I hope you will add your genealogy to your profile on Wikitree. Seems like a lot of Tilley's migrated "down under" from England. It seems like the Tilley, Tilly, Tylle, and Tylly may be associated families. Your input will Be welcome!

Hi, Bob - I'm interested in the Tilley Name Study.

My Great Grandfather, Henry Tilley born 1856 in Burton Overy, Leicestershire, emigrated to Utah in 1873. I have his line back to 1585 to Daniel Tylle of Leicestershire.

DNA testing of my direct line male Tilleys has been done via FamilyTreeDNA [Y-Haplogroup I-BY138] in kits that I manage.

I am also a member of the Tilley Family Facebook Group (Jason D Tilley is also a member!).

Hi Bob working with you on Sparrell's kids. I added the rest of them and gave them a parental DNA source. Also, added sibs to most....let me know if you prefer a different format than the one I used on Mary Jane Turner...I worked mostly on her profile today, but touched all the sibs...more to do obviously. Her bio is rough right now so I am hoping one of us can add to it. Also, requested the closed profiles owned by Jeff Compton opened up.

Thanks Kim

Thank you again for your help with merging our records for James Henry Tilley, my G grandfather. We have a conflict with birth and death dates, causing me to recheck my notes. I am new to Wiki and I am not a genealogist and I have not finished my wikitree profile for him. I do ave sources for him and his WW 1 draft card lists his birthday as 21 November 1873, which differs from your file. In checking the death date, I got that from Arkansas Death Index, 1914-1950, which notes his death as 12 MAY 1946 which matches your record and mine was transposed the dates written numerically as 5-12-1873. I have not finished adding sources and I have the family tree back to James Tilley (1719 NC - 1798 KY) but I am rechecking sources as I post here. Congrats on your Generous Genealogist Award.

Isn't Mary's LNAB still Unknown?

the merge is set up to make her same LNAB as her husband. Mary Unknown (Unknown-348755) and Mary Culton (Culton-24)

Can you please add me as a profile manager to Margie Ann? https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-455940. This is my husband's great grandmother. Her name was actually Margie Ann Smith based on the 1880 census and two of her children's death certificates. Maryann Taylor is incorrect on the 1900 census.

Hi! You added marriage info to McKinney-4622. Could you also add your source for that information?

Re: your 9 Jul 2017 comment about Elizabeth Martin Tilley, how did I become her project manager? I didn't join WikiTree until February 2018. I don't understand.
Bob,

I greatly appreciate your recent Pennell, White and Fortner updates. That is my paternal grandmother's line which I have not studied.

Hi Bob,

You recently created Fortner-730 (Aaron) and made him the father of Fortner-277. Fortner-355 (Aaron) was create some time ago by a person who Wikitree account has been terminate for failure to source profiles. These are my lines but I know nothing about them. Are you will to unravel the mess? I suspect it can be done via the Census as you have already started doing. If you tackle tis beast, it will be much appreciated.

Hi, Bob!

I saw your comment on Harris-18675. It would also be a good idea to use the "Ask Question" link on the right side of the profile to post your question in G2G. This will help more people see your question, and you'll probably get some feedback more quickly. :-)

Good luck!

Hi Bob regarding Albert Tilley it could be it's not in the right area for his children but people do move away from family thank you I will keep it in mind
