Patty Saunders was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and lived there with her family until she was in eighth grade. Patty's grandfather Saunders lived in Oregon while she was in grade school; her Saunders grandmother had died before she was born. Her dad's Aunt Ollie lived down the hill in Sausalito; they visited a few times. One of her dad's cousins lived on a farm in Sonoma with her boy who was Patty's age; Patty's family visited there at least twice. Her Hartmann grandparents lived several hours away on a little ranch in the Sierra Nevada foothills; Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations always included her Hartmann grandparents and usually some aunts and a cousin or two.
The family moved to Martinsburg, West Virginia, and lived there from when Patricia was in eighth grade until she had started tenth grade. Pat finished High School in Washington, DC, in June of 1962.
Pat completed her B.A. in Psychology at University of California, Santa Barbara, in June of 1970.
Pat started her career as a computer programmer working for Contra Costa County, California. After more than five years there, she moved to Texas for a job that was supposed to take her to Iran to work. When the Shah of Iran's government failed, Pat moved to Boston, Massachusetts to work for Honeywell Computers. While working for Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Pat supported personal computers for over a year, then went back to developing software systems for mainframe computers. Pat retired from computer work at the end of 1999.
Pat had her bladder removed when it developed cancer in 2002. She has had a couple of brushes with death because of infections as a result of her cancer surgery. She is glad to live in Ocala, Florida near her sister where they can take care of one another.
Pat did genealogy for about as long as she owned a personal computer. She learned about genealogy when she lived in the Boston area near a National Archives branch and the New England Historic Genealogical Society. She was addicted to genealogy as a hobby.
Pat died peacefully of kidney failure on July 7, 2020 in Ocala, Florida, according to her sister, Sandra. Her Find-a-Grave memorial is # 213871685.

Dad published the Mt. Adams Sun in Bingen from 1939 until 1968. Take care.
I also checked our gedmatch numbers (Mine is on my profile just below the Wonderful WikiTreers links) and there is no match.
