Hi Margaret,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, here are a few more features you may find useful:

  • If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
  • Unfortunately, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving these situations.

If you have questions, feel free to post them on my profile page or send me a private message.

Hi Margaret,

Welcome to Wikitree. While John Tyler (Tyler-181) is not my line, I get notifications when profiles are added, and you will also. I try to look at the new information to see if there may be existing profiles which could be a match, and your information appeared to be a fit.

I am not sure how involved you are with the Tyler lineage, but be careful on other sites as there are many composite family groups - mostly trying to link to the President. The bad fits become apparent with a little digging.

Good luck!

Mike

Welcome to our community, Margaret. Thanks for volunteering to help grow our worldwide tree by adding your family branches. :)

Our Honor Code, G2G forum, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.

Please consider stopping by the Tree House to introduce yourself.

VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

Thank you for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only ONE profile per person.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!

Hi, I would like to volunteer to help grow the shared tree. I agree with your mission and plan to abide by the nine rules! I've been interested in genealogy for quite some time and would love to work collaboratively!

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'. The GEDMatch report page also has helpful information.
