His father was still living in 1897, but Karl Jakob was not living with his family at the time the census was taken that year, nor is he identified in any other Aab household. ^[2] He may have been living with his wife's family, he may have moved to another village, or he may have been deceased. It's also possible that he lived in another village in 1897, and then immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s.
