During service in England, Ernest suffered a broken ankle and spent 2 weeks in hospital. He was subsequently sent to France with the 18th Bttn, and near Etaples, was wounded in the face and the back. Armistice declared 11 Nov 1918. Ernest left Liverpool 14 May 1919 and was officially discharged in London Ont 10 days later.

Death
It is not known when Ernest Aaron died. There is an Ernest Aaron listed on the Canadian Voter Lists of 1935, 1958, 1962, 1963, and 1965 in Ohsweken, part of the Brand-Haldimand Electorial District. In 1965 he is listed as a 'pensioner.' [7] This could very likely be Ernest. Electoral lists for later years were not found. Interestingly, there was also a 'Mrs. Ernest Aaron', one year named as 'Nellie,' listed on the 1962, 1963, and 1965 lists, so perhaps Ernest married in his later years. [7]
