Hi,

I just noticed on my profile page that my name is listed as Craig C. Aaron. My full legal name is John Craig Aaron and I commonly go by my middle name Craig. Is there an easier way to edit this than having to create a new account?

Thanks, Craig

Hi Craig,

Thanks for signing the Honor Code

To change the way that your name displays click "edit'.

Proper First Name: type in "John"
Preferred Name: type in Craig
Middle Name: type in Craig
Your name should now display as John Craig (Craig) Aaron, but when other people see your profile they will just see Craig Aaron.

I hope this helps, and just message me or post a reply to a comment here on your page when you have any questions, if you post a comment on your own profile no one will be notified of your post except you.

Have a super day

Hi, I'd like to add to suggested edits to the Henderson side of my ancestry. I'm not sure what sources are ok. I've linked my DNA to my Ancestry tree and have searched Thrulines. Is it ok to reference Thrulines in my Ancestry account? Another site I've thought of referencing is Find A Grave. Also, I've seen that David Henderson is referenced as a manager for several people in my tree. Is it ok to directly contact him or other managers with questions? He obviously knows a lot about this web site and the Henderson ancestors. Please let me know if I'm on the right track here.

Thanks, Craig Aaron

Hi Craig,

I've unfortunately not heard of Thrulines before, but if it's not any kind of advertising and has something to do with ancestry or your tree then that should be fine. Yes, you can absolutelt reference FindAgrave in your bio's, and yes, you should definitely contact David Henderson, collaboration at it's best 😊

You are totally on the right track!

Have a great day, Pam

Please advise as to where I find how to download my DNA profile to this website from Ancestry. My current profile is Autosomal. I'd like to add Y and Mitochondrial profiles. Where is a good place to have these tests done.

Hi Craig,

We don't actually download our DNA on WikiTree. We provide the information from where we were tested and it is added to our profiles within 24hrs. Then you try to find people in your matches who have tested with the same company. Your DNA information will show on your ancestors' profiles several generations back. You may see people whose DNA also shows on those profiles. This page has a lot of information about DNA and how it can be used on WikiTree DNA.

To add your information see the DNA Collaboration on the right side of your profile there is a link to take you to the page to add the details. A lot of people also upload their DNA to Gedmatch and add their GedMatch ID's to their test information on WikiTree.

Most people that I know of do their Ydna and mtDNA through FamilyTreeDNA. Most of the companies do not do Y or Mt testing.

Hello Laura and thanks for the welcome. I have done quite a bit on my Ancestry tree as well including a DNA test. I find it fascinating! So I am researching both sides of my family primarily on Wikitree although I've used information from this Wikitree and FamilySearch. I've just looked around on Wikitree and it's great. Today I looked at the Aaron side of the family and noticed my 2nd Great Grandfather, George Monroe Aaron, is shown without children. I was wondering how I go about providing some information for review and possible edits to his profile? Thanks again.

Hi Craig,

WikiTree is great! It is also great that you are already finding your family lines. I am sure your relatives would appreciate it if you have information to add along with the sources. I am going to give you a link that will explain a lot more in detail about what you can do Membership. Look this page over and if you have any questions just let me know.
