Kristian was born 17 July 1846 at Skoger, the son of Jonas Aaserud and Marthe Marie Engelkor. He was baptized 20 September 1846 at the old Skoger Church.[1] He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at the same church on 6 October 1861 at the age of 15.[2]
Kristianwas born on the family farm of Aaserud, where he remained after reaching adulthood. He didn't marry until he was fifty-six years old. He became the owner of the family farm after the death of his father.[3]
At the time of the 1891 Norway Census, Christian was living at Aaserud with his brother's children, Jonas Jørgensen, born 1880 and Marthe Jørgensdatter, born 1878, along with two servants: Jøran Halvorsdatter, born 1857 and Rudolf Anthonsen, 1875.[4] At the time of the 1900 Norway Census, Kristian was still living at the Aaserud farm, along with his nephew, Jonas Jørgensen, and one servant, Margit Pedersen, born 1846, unmarried, with her son Daniel Johansen, born 1894 in Eiker.[5] By the time of the next census, in 1910, Kristian was living at the Aaserud, unmarried, with two servants, Ivar Jørgensen and Marie Olsen.[6] Within two weeks of the census, Kristian married Marie Olsen.
Kristian and Marie were married 19 December 1910 in the Old Skoger Church. He was 36 years older than his bride.[7] According to the record of Christain's marriage in the church records, his wife, Marie, was born and confirmed at Fiskum.[8] According to the church records, their second child, Andreas, was not expected to live and was christened almost immediately after his birth. When Andreas survived, the family had a party to celebrate on 20 August 1914.
There is a photo of Kristian in the Skogerboken, which must have been taken when Kristian was about fifty years of age. He was a handsome man with a long, angular face and prominent nose.
Kristian and Marie lived on the farm for the remainder of their lives. Kristian died in July 1932 at the age of 85.[9] After his death, Kristian's farm went to his wife, Marie, who would in May 1944 sell the farm to their son, Andreas Aaserud.
