Biography
Finnis was born in 1910. He was the son of William Abberton and Mary Carter.
Finnis volunteered for the Navy aged 16, but declared himself to be older. He was posted to Darwin. Not long after joining, he had an accident, falling from a mast onto the deck. He was lucky to recover and resumed his career in the Navy. He married Violet and later worked as a taxi driver.[1]
He passed away in 1971.
