900. DAVID ABBE, born July, 1751 ; died August 7, 1799, recorded in East Windsor, Conn. Resided in Granby, Mass., at the time of his death. He is perhaps the David Abbe who was a private under Captain Phineas Smith, April 19, 1775; enlisted in Massachusetts, August 17, 1777; was Corporal, 1778-9. In the 1790 Census he is recorded at Granby, one male over 16, six males under 16, three females in the family. Every effort has been made to learn his parentage, but without success.
Married August 25, 1774, SARAH PRESTON, born June 2, 1754; died Januarj^ 3, 1809. The widow Sarah Abbe was living in Granby in 1800, one female over 45, two males between 16 and 26, one female between 10 and 16, two males and one female under 10 in the family. According to the probate records at Northampton, on April 6, 1802, Sarah was appointed guardian for the three youngest children, and Samuel Clark was made guardian for Simon, Sarah and Levi.
