Radcliffe John Abbot was the youngest son of William Abbot 5th and his wife Hannah Morgan. He was also the youngest of nine children. Radcliffe was born in 1813 and baptised on Thursday 3 June, in the same year, at the Cathedral in Canterbury, Kent.[1] The Abbots had a residence known as the "Limes" in St Mary Bredin, Canterbury, undoubtedly, Radcliffe's childhood would have been spent here.
Radcliffe's Father was a Proctor in the Arches Court of Canterbury which was held at Doctors' Commons in London. It is not surprising to see that the Abbots, at least the gentlemen, kept a house in London.
