Hi Kim,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's six-monthly check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we do not hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

Hi Kim!

I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the goals of the England Project during the past six months. We've achieved a huge amount during this period and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.

As the England Project Leaders, we are completing our six monthly check-in with all project members.

Are you happy to stay in your current project team/s? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in? Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future?

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Kim,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around.

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Amy, Joan & Lizzie.

Hi Amy, Joan, & Lizzie,

I am doing well, thank you. Currently, I have been reviewing my ancestors that I entered to make sure they have solid sources and the bio's are better than when I initially entered them. I've learned so much from the Orphan Trail level 1, that I intend to go on to the next level. I joined the England Sourcerers, but haven't had much time lately to devote to it. Once I have my family in better shape, I will jump back in. I also, joined my first Source-A-Thon this fall. It was great! I joined the Virginia team, since I live there and my early relatives were also from Virginia. I don't think I need to change anything at all. I am very happy. Regarding the Google Group and Discord Server. I do take a peek at the emails from the Google Group occasionally, and glean some helpful info there. For the Discord, I think I joined it, but I don't think to visit it. If things auto come to your email for that, I don't receive it, so maybe I didn't join properly. I have no suggestions at this time. I think WikiTree is awesome! - KIm

Hi Kim,

I'm thrilled to hear that you've had such a positive experience in the project so far! I definitely understand fixing up your ancestors - I was very young when I first joined WikiTree (a tiny, only-just 13 year old!), so a lot of my earliest profiles just had FS links copied and pasted into the source box, LOL.

Thank you for your feedback on Google Groups and Discord. I don't know whether things come to your email for Discord or not - the messages don't, but I believe when you sign up for an account a confirmation email is sent to your account. Again, I don't know for certain - I joined Discord a long time ago - far, far before the project server was created. I wouldn't worry, though - anything important is sent to the Google Group, so you aren't missing anything vital :)

Regards, Amy

Hi, KA!

Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.

Keep up the great work!

Hello Kim

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. Thank you for your work on English Profiles and participating in the Orphan Trail.

These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice, or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the Project Leaders for everything you do.

Hello Jo,

I did have to take a 2-3 month break while attending to my father after his vehicle wreck and then losing him due to the injuries. I am finding after taking this break which allowed for grieving, I have returned with the same zeal for this work. It is nice to have a fun hobby while providing a service to the families of these orphans. I am learning so much! It is definitely something I want to continue doing. I am happy with my current role and team choice.

Thanks for checking in with me! Kim

Hi KA,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the England and United States Projects would be good fits based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Hi KA

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the How-to been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Hi A.,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.

Ludwig :)
