John Abbott was a son of Samuel and Abigail Myrick Abbott, born June 5, 1738 [1], in Sudbury (in the section of town that later became the town of East Sudbury and is now Wayland), Massachusetts.[2]
He is known as Lieutenant Abbott in recognition of his service in the Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolutionary War.[3]
He died suddenly in Holden on 23 May 1799, probably from apoplexy, and is buried in Holden.[4]
John Abbott married Mary Allen on 25 September 1760 in East Sudbury, Massachusetts, which later became Wayland.[5] They had eleven children.[6]
