George Abbott was christened on 14 May 1815 in Yetminster, Dorset, England. He was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Abbott.[1][2]
The baptism records for George and his sister Ann are both clearly 1815 but on different dates; George in May and Ann in July. (George was baptized in Yetminster, Ann in Halstock). Possibly George was born earlier (1813/1814 given parent's marriage in 1812), but not baptized until 1815. He may have been named for the king (then George III).
George Abbott married Elizabeth Childs of Evershott in 1840 in Halstock, Dorset, England. The banns were published the third time on 8 Mar 1840.[3]
George was an agricultural laborer.[4]
