Biography

ENOS ABBOT born at Andover 7 Feb 1769[1] son of Jonathan Abbott and Ruth Bragg;[2] Enos died at Upton, Maine (recorded at Andover, Maine), 28 Feb 1839;[3] married at Andover, 10 Sep 1793,[4][5] SARAH FARNUM, born at Andover, Massachusetts, 21 Sep 1764[6] daughter of Thomas Farnum and Lydia Abbot.[7]

Sarah and Enos were from Andover, Massachusetts and settled in Andover (current day Maine) where they kept a farm.

Enos settled in what would become Andover, Maine prior to his marriage. At a meeting on 23 January 1795, Enos Abbott drew lot number one of the west side. Lot number eleven was drawn by his father Jonathan Abbott.[8] On 8 June 1797, Enos and Sarah Abbott were of East Andover, Massachusetts (current Maine) when for one hundred dollars Enos sold to his father Jonathan Abbot one right of land in East Andover being a sixty-fourth part of the township, lot number eleven on the west side of the river.[9] Enos’s father resided in Andover until his death in 1833 at age 84.

In 1810, the household of Enos Abbot was eight persons at East Andover: one male 26 to 44, one female 26 to 44, three males under 10, two males 10 to 15, and one female 10 to 15. Other families in the census at East Andover were Enos’s father Jonathan, his brother Daniel, and his first cousin Holton Abbot.[10]

On 7 December 1825, Enos sold 75 acres with buildings in Upton, Maine to his son Stephen.[11]
