Harold Abbott was born to Oscar Wesley and Ann Eliza on September 29, 1887, in Troy, Vermont.

Harold married Grace Gates on May 22, 1918, in Ludlow, Vermont, just before being drafted into the military for service in WWI.

Harold traveled, applying for his passport and visiting Canada and Liverpool, returning to New York on the passenger ship Lapland. Leigh Gates, Harold and Grace's son, was born while they were abroad.

Harold died on May 24, 1958 in Barton, Vermont.
