  • The burial of Mrs. Addison Porter whose death occurred in Appleton City, Missouri on the 23rd of February took place yesterday in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Rev. C. I. Fisher conducted the services at the grave. Mrs. Porter was a former resident of this county and had many friends and relatives here who sincerely mourn her death.
  • Rose E. Abbott Porter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Abbott was born in Benton County, September 6, 1864. She lived with her parents until eighteen years of age. In February 1881 she was married to Addison Porter in Cedar Rapids. They moved with their family in 1883 to Huron, South Dakota; moved back to Benton County, Iowa in 1891; lived in Benton County until the fall of 1909, when the husband and family moved to Appleton City, Missouri. The husband preceded her in death November 27, 1910.
  • She was one of a family of fourteen children, seven brothers and six sisters, and is survived by the following brothers, James and Egbert of Mt. Auburn, Iowa, Grant of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Albert of Des Moines and George of Maynard, Iowa. She also leaves to mourn her death the following children: Lizzie Westcott of Mt. Auburn, Lulu, Harry, Myrtle, Marshall, and Chester at home. Also seven grandchildren.
  • She was a member of the Christian Church.
