James Abbot was christened on 15 Jan 1814 in Sapcote, Leicestershire, England. He was the son of James Abbot and Frances. [1]
James Abbott was married to Catherine Farmer on 16th September 1832 in [2]
A James Abbott, age 21 was buried on 12th December 1834, Sapcote, Leicestershire, England. This James would be the right age for the above christening and he isn't on the 1841 or 1851 censuses. It would however mean that not all of Catherine's children were James's, as they only married weeks before his death. [3]
This person was dead by 1851, as his wife, Catherine is a widow on the 1851 census. The 1841 census has Catherine with three children, all born Sapcote, Leicestershire. There is no husband evident on this census. There is a christening of a James Abbott in Sapcote on 15th January 1814, parents Frances and James. There is a death of James Abbott in Sapcote in 1834, who was born 1813. I therefore conclude that this is the correct death date. The children born in Shropshire evidently therefore belong to a different family and I will detach them.
No source to support Eccleshall, Staffordshire, England, as previously mentioned in an incomplete source so I have removed that.
The previous note about dying in the Dardanelles and a grocers' shop in London, I conclude is typical ancestry twaddle and I have removed it.
