Biography

Ann Catharine Gilbert was born on 23 September 1823, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to John Abel and Mary Himes. [1]

She married Presmull Penn They had seven known children (and the 1900 census reports that Ann had had eight children, six of whom were living).

In 1870, she was living with her husband Henry Gilbert, and her children and his, in Whitehall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [4] [5]

In 1880, she was living on James Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with her husband Henry and her daughter Caroline M Penn. [6]

In 1900, she was living at 5352 James Street, ward 23, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with her daughter Maggie and Maggie's husband Stephen Land. [7]

She died on 2 March 1907, at 5352 James Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of peritonitis (duration 4 days), with malignant stricture of colon (duration 1 month) contributory. She was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 9 March 1907. [1] [3] [8]
