Biography

William Abel was born about 1789 in Stillwater, Saratoga County, New York. He was the son of Jeremiah and Alcha (Cannon) Abel, and named in his father’s Will. [1] [2]

Through his life, William Abel was identified as a farmer. About 1820, he married Sarah “Sally” Tompkins. [3]

William and Sarah settled in Stillwater, New York, where they lived out their lives. [4] [5] [6]

William Abel died November 11, 1863. The survivors were: Sally his widow, Ephraim Abel, David Abel, Alfred Abel, William E. Abel, Margaret Abel, Harriet Abel, Mary Abel, Adelia Myers wife of Harvey Myers and Charles Abel. Henry W. Arnold and Nathaniel B. Arnold were witnesses to the Will dated November 7, 1863. [7]
