From History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania:
Henry Abel, was born at Geisa, Saxe- Weimar, Germany, in 1801, and was a brother of Ignatius Abel (see sketch of Joseph Abel). He studied law at the University of Jena, from which he took the degree of LL. D. in 1829.He died in 1884, aged eighty-three years, leaving four sons and two daughters. He married Elizabeth Schaffer,who was born in Lancaster, Pa., a daughter of Ambrose and Barbara Schaffer, of Baden, Germany. Following are the names of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Abel's children: Edward, Charles, Henry, Ferdinand, Josephine (Mrs. A. C. Kloman) and Tillie, all save Henry, who is in Denver, Colo., being residents of Pittsburgh.
