On 5 Jun 1880 at the time of the 1880 New York State Census, head of household Adam Heier (age 44, born in Bavaria) was employed as a Laborer and living at 10 South Alvord Street in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York with his wife Maggie Heier (age 42, born in Bavaria); daughter Sarah Heier (age 10, born in NY); son Charley Heier (age 8, born in NY); daughter Caroline Heier (age 5, born in NY); and son Johnny Heier (age 3, born in NY). Both of Adam's parents were born in Bavaria; both of Margaret's parents were born in Bavaria. [2]

Adam Hier (age 68, born May 1832 in Germany) was Widowed, employed as a Mason Tender, and living in a home he owned free of mortgage at 304 South Alvord Street in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York, with his daughter Lena Hier (age 25, born Jul 1875 in NY) employed as a Tailoress; son John Hier (age 23, born Sep 1877 in NY) employed as a Moulder (Iron); and daughter Henrietta Hier (age 16, born Feb 1884 in NY) employed as a House Keeper. Adam's parents were both born in Germany. Adam immigrated from Germany to USA in 1865, and was a naturalized citizen of the USA, where he'd lived for 35 years. [3]
