Reginald Abell was born in Kington, Herefordshire, England on 14th September 1906 to William Abell and Clara Daunter. He was baptised 17 Oct 1906 Baptism: St.Marys Church, Kington, Herefordshire, England. Page 8, Entry 60. Prior to joining the Royal Navy he was a Grocers Porter. He married Emily Elizabeth Billingham about March 1927. He passed away 1st August 1986 at Hereford, England.

Royal Navy Record of Service. RN Draft No. Dev/M38497 Devonport. Enlisted Royal Navy,23 September 1924 at the age of 18yrs. Discharged 23 November 1946. HMS Resolution HMS Egmont (1929) HMS Sandhurst HMS London HMS Eagle (Aircraft Carrier) HMS Drake (Back to Plymouth) HMS Wellington (pacific fleet around New Zealand) HMS Ergret (First vessel to be sank by guided missile) HMS Ferret HMS Philoctetes (nicknamed The Flock of Fleas) Africa Coast.
