Alexander C. Abercrombie married Elizabeth Clark on October 4, 1849 in Mississippi. They had the following children: Margaret Ann (Abercrombie) Carroll Rev. Daniel A. Abercrombie A. Calvin Abercrombie, Jr. William Oliver Abercrombie Alexander C. Abercrombie enlisted in the Confederate Army on August 27, 1861. He served in Company I of the 5th. Mississippi Infantry. On November 25, 1863 during the Battle of Missionary Ridge in Tennessee he was wounded and taken prisoner by the Union Army. He remained prisoner until May 23, 1865 when an exchange of prisoners took place in New Orleans. Alexander Abercrombie moved his family to Cherokee County, Texas between 1866 and 1870. There he served as a Justice of the Peace for a number of years.
