Biography

David Abercrombie is conjectured to have been born in early 1769 to parents Charles Abercrombie and Isabel Ker. He was baptized in the Church of Scotland parish of St Ninians, Stirlingshire about 17 Mar 1769[1]

David married Isabel Mackie on 8 Nov 1801 in St Ninians, Stirlingshire[2]. Her surname was recorded as Mackie in the marriages register.

David and Isabel (in the registers, Isable) had 15 children between 1802 and 1827, all baptized in St Ninians (the date is that recorded in the baptismal entry in St Ninian's parish registers).

Research Notes

There are two children named David Abercrombie born to Charles Abercrombie and Isabel Ker in St Ninians parish in 1768 and 1769, a year apart. It is conjectured that the first David (baptized on 16 Mar 1768) died as an infant. The parents named their next child also David (a common practice in Scottish families in the period). He was baptized on 17 Mar 1769.

St Ninians parish registers in this period do not contain records of deaths or burials.
