Biography

Johann Jacob was born in Wössingen, Baden on 2nd October 1823. He was the son of cooper Johann Jacob Aberle and Susanna Lauphe??.[1]

On 13 Feb 1851 he married in Wössingen Katharina Barbara Müller (daughter of Johannes Müller and Elisabeth Kißling).[2]

He and his wife Katherine immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1854,[3] arriving in New York on 20 May 1854 on the ship George F Patton. With their oldest children, Johann Jacob Jr. and Christina, they moved to Boston soon after arrival, where Johann worked as a cooper.

John Jacob applied for naturalization as US citizen on the 5th of March 1862. His petition was granted in October 1868.

He and Katherine were living separately not long before his death. He on Jeffries and she on 8th near Spring. He was found drowned in the Charles River, apparently after falling off a dock, on 24 April 1891.
