Biography

James married Zemula Johnson and had children William Logan and Mary Scott.[1]

In 1962 James Logan Abernathy commissioned a home in Palm Springs, California which is now considered an historic example of mid-century modern architecture.[2] On various sites he is referred to as a "PR magnate" or "millionaire socialite"

Another document at the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation gives a biography of James, including two more wives.[3] According to the document Zemula died in 1951. The second wife was decorator Helen K. Beatty in 1957.[4] She lived only a few years. Abernathy had a relationship with Magdalen H. "Madge" Phillips, and married her in 1964.

One bit of conflicting information in the biography is that one of Abernathy's siblings was Cora Abernathy Hull, where the profile here is for Mary (Abernathy) Snyder. I believe that Cora A. Hull was actually an aunt of James who lived from 1871-1972 , rather than his sister.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
