John served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Parents: Clyde Asburry Abernathy 1898 - 1974 and Myrtle Eugenia (Sones) Abernathy 1897 - 1971.

John worked for Owens-Illinois as a master electrician and retired after 37 years of service. He was also a member of the Karem Shriners 4-Wheelers. John loved to spend time at his lake house in Whitney, Texas and also loved to hunt and fish.
