Abernathy (age 3, born in AL); and son Irby C. Abernathy (age 1, born in AL). Jim and Sarah had been married for 11 years; Sarah had given birth to six children, five of whom were still alive at that time. Jim's father was born in South Carolina and his mother was born in Georgia. Both of Sarah's parents were born in Alabama. [1]
