Biography
Agnes Kate Abernethy was born 22nd August 1875 at Port Augusta, South Australia, the daughter of John Abernethy and Mary Stokes. Her birth was registered in the Frome district. [1] [2]
In 1908, in Victoria, she married Elijah George Hunter. The Victorian Pioneer Index records Elijah's birthplace as Great Western, but does not index one for Agnes. [3]
Agnes Kate Hunter passed away 16th September 1964, aged 89 years, in Port Adelaide, South Australia. Her death was registered in the Norwood district. [4] [5]
On 18th September 1964, her remains were interred in the Ferntree Gully Cemetery, Victoria, joining those of her husband who had predeceased her in 1962. A plaque, dated 1994, lies on the foot of their grave, memorialising their son, George Abernethy Hunter. The monumental headstone at the head reads...
