James was born about 1828 in County Tyrone, Ireland, [1] the son of James Abernethy, Farmer. On 15 Aug 1850 at the Arboe parish church he married Matilda Farrell, daughter of Robert Farrell, farmer. He was full age and she a minor. He lived at Drumard and she at Tamnavally, both in Arboe parish. [2] They lived at Drumard after this. [3]
He passed away 2 April 1892 at Drumard, married, age 72 due to cancer of upper jaw. [4] He is buried at Donaghenry Churchyard in a family plot. [5]
