Biography

William James Abernethy (1913-1998) was born in Liffey Street, Toxteth Park on the 20th December 1913 ^[1] and christened at St Clement, Toxteth Park on the 22nd January 1914. He was the son of William Abernethy and Edith Buckley. ^[2] He grew up in Liffey Street where the family lived for many years. ^{[3] [4]}

The family moved to Scholar Street, Liverpool in the mid 1930s. ^[5]

He married Saran Ann Turner in late 1938 at Holy Spirit Church, Dovecot, Liverpool. ^[6] and the couple were living in Elmbank Road, Liverpool when the household register was taken at the start of WW2. William was employed as a planer and shaper. ^[7]

After the war they moved to Ramsbrook Close, Speke where they settled for many years. ^{[8] [9]}

He died aged 84 years in November 1988 in Liverpool, Merseyside. ^[10]
