Alexander Able was born about 1777 in Maryland. He married Mary Day Lindley in 1807 in Oxford, Warren, Ohio. They had nine children. Mary Day Lindley (1789 PA-bet. 1840 and 1850, Iowa or Illinois), was the daughter of Isaac Lindley and Abigail Day, who married on 21 February 1789, and had eleven children. [1]

In the 1880 Census, his daughter, Abigail (Day) Lindley, stated that both her parents were born in Maryland. [4]
