Magna Carta Gateway Ancestor
Dannett Abney is a descendant of Magna Carta Surety Baron Saher de Quincy.

From the will of Bathshua Abney, his mother, dated 8 JAN 1706 in England "Left to her only son, Dannett, the greater part of her estate, appointing two poor people executors, giving them five shillings each." As Dannett was not in England he never claimed his inheritance which was eventually escheated to the crown.

A twin of George Abney, Dannett was baptised 26 FEB 1660 at St. Mary's Church, Leicester, Leicestershire county, England.[1]

Dannett immigrated to America in 1694, settling in St. Margaret's Parish, King William County, Virginia.[2]

He married Mary Lee, widow of his brother Paul, about 1702. They had at least one son: Dannett Jr.[2]

Dannett Abney's will was proved in Spotsylvania County on March 5, 1733.[2]

Note--this a work in progress and I am working to add all of my 30+ years of research AND make the information more readable. I visited England in April and collected more documentation and source records, which I will add as soon as I have time. If you add to this work, please include your source in the source list below. I have many of the actual documents such as the land records and will already and will be uploading them as I have time. Thank you!

update: Thanks Lisa! I've reviewed the trail to Quincy-226 & updated Base Camp. Cheers, Liz

Hi! Please see the Magna Carta project's Base Camp page. Profiles that display the Magna Carta badge should be part of a completed trail to a Magna Carta surety baron that has been reviewed by a project member. Thanks!
