Biography

Gottfried was born August 8, 1850 or 1851. He married Elisabeth Krause in Germany in October 1876. They had several children born in Germany before emigrating to McNab Township in Renfrew County, Ontario. Gottfried found work at a local saw mill. Gottfried and Elisabeth had at least eight children. The sons began working as teenagers. Gottfried passed away in Arnprior in 1939 and was buried in the Albert Street Cemetery.
