Calogero was born between 1791 and 1796 [1], a son of Francesco Abruzzo and Anna Iannazzo [2]. He married Antonina Cacioppo in 1819 [3] and they had multiple children. Calogero died in 1861 [4], probably in his late 60s.
According to his death record, Calogero earned his living as a farming field hand. Calogero was named for his paternal grandfather, Calogero Abruzzo.
Research Notes
Calogero's marriage record names his mother as Anna Iannazzo and his death record says Dia Ferraro. The earlier record is more likely to be correct, especially since his mother was still living at the time. We know that both records refer to the same man because his death record names his wife.
Birth year: his age at death (70 in 1861) indicates a birth year around 1791. However, his age at his children's birth and marriages indicate a later birth year.
